By using RoughSketch (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. In these Terms, “RoughSketch,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of roughsketch.app; “you” refers to the person using the Service.
RoughSketch is a free diagram editor that stores your work in your own Google Drive. When you sign in, diagrams are saved directly from your browser to Drive using the drive.file scope, which limits our access to only the files you open or create with RoughSketch. The Service is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime, availability, or preservation of features over time.
You must be at least 18 years old to use RoughSketch. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. RoughSketch is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
You own everything you create. Your diagrams are saved to your personal Google Drive — we never claim ownership of your content, and we do not access, read, or analyze the content of your diagrams. RoughSketch's servers are not on the path between your browser and Google Drive for diagram data.
You can use RoughSketch without signing in; your work will be saved locally in your browser only. Signing in with Google enables saving to your Drive. You may sign out at any time, which deletes your session data from our servers, and you may revoke RoughSketch's access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
You agree not to use RoughSketch to:
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to RoughSketch at any time and without prior notice if you violate these Terms, abuse the infrastructure, or create legal risk for the Service. Because your diagrams are stored in your own Google Drive, suspension from RoughSketch does not affect your access to your files — you retain them through Drive regardless.
You may stop using RoughSketch at any time. RoughSketch does not store your diagrams, so there is nothing for us to delete when you stop using the Service. Any session data we hold (the encrypted refresh token and session cookie) is deleted when you sign out or revoke access in your Google account.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, THAT YOUR DATA WILL ALWAYS BE RECOVERABLE, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR BROWSER OR DEVICE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL ROUGHSKETCH OR ITS OPERATOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO ONE HUNDRED CANADIAN DOLLARS (CAD $100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RoughSketch and its operator from any third-party claims, losses, or reasonable attorney's fees arising out of (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your violation of any applicable law, or (c) your infringement of any third-party right. This obligation does not apply to claims arising from our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The courts of Ontario, Canada shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, subject to any mandatory consumer protections you are entitled to under the laws of your country or jurisdiction of habitual residence.
RoughSketch does not host your diagram content — your files are stored in your own Google Drive and are subject to Google's own copyright and takedown processes. If you believe material on RoughSketch's own website (for example, our marketing pages or example diagrams) infringes your copyright, please contact us at support@roughsketch.app with: (1) identification of the copyrighted work, (2) the URL or location of the allegedly infringing material, (3) your contact information, and (4) a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized.
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be severed and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
